Diversity Dialogues

In an effort to continue the cultivation of diversity relationship building, a new initiative called Diversity Dialogues will encompass three different program series. These program series will serve as vehicles for the campus community to discuss identity, experiences and ways to improve our relationships within and outside of our reference groups.
Diversity Dialogue Program Series Components
- Screen n’ Speak: A film discussion series provided each month for students, faculty and staff to broaden their perspectives of diversity and inclusion. At Screen ‘n’ Speak, documentary movies are carefully selected based on their inclusive subject matter, and a conversation is led by an invited guest discussion leader.
- World Café: A program series designed for students to meet and discuss issues that pertain to their personal, professional and academic lives. At these recurring events, students gain awareness of other cultures, process topical issues and learn about the lives and experiences of others within campus communities. It is a way to facilitate dialogue which allows for deep, interactive conversation surrounding three question prompts. World Cafés include an inviting setting, meaningful questions, contribution from everyone, and great listening and sharing of diverse perspectives.
- Town Hall Meeting: A format for open discussion on diverse topics and an exchange of ideas for constituency groups including faculty, staff, administrators and students. Town hall meetings are generally structured with limited talking points and ample time for open discussion from attendees. A lead facilitator serves as the conversation host to ensure there is balance in the voices shared and adherence to a safe space for appreciative dialogue.
