ESL Afterschool Communities

ESL Afterschool Communities is an outreach initiative in the Center for Workforce Development that joins Columbus State Community College with the city’s refugee and immigrant communities. ESL Afterschool Communities offers community-based, comprehensive afterschool programs at four sites within Franklin County. ESL Afterschool Communities

Programs for Youth

Kids

Columbus State offers a range of programs for students younger than college age with the goal of preparing students for college.

K-12 Programs

Columbus State offers programs targeted to students in grades K-12 to prepare them for entry into college, careers and life-long learning.

Educational Talent Search

A pre-collegiate program for students enrolled in or who have dropped out of any grade from six through twelve and who live in select areas within the Columbus Public School District.

ESL Afterschool Communities

An outreach initiative with the city's refugee and immigrant communities that offers community-based, comprehensive afterschool programs at four sites within Franklin County.

Trade-Skill Training - OTAP

Orientation to Trade and Apprenticeship Programs (OTAP) is a ten week program with 300 hours of instruction.  Students who decide to continue their education can earn three to eight college credits through OTAP, which can be applied toward an appropriate certificate or degree. This program is contingent on funding.

 

COWIC One Stop Youth Services

The COWIC One-Stop Youth Services Program provides at-risk youth with assessment and career exploration opportunities. Students must be ages 16-21 and be WIA eligible. This program is funded by the Central Ohio Workforce Investment Corporation.

Conference Center

Backed by a stunning view of downtown Columbus, the Columbus State Conference Center is an ideal venue for a corporate meeting or seminar.

Language Institute

The Columbus State Language Institute can help individuals, companies and groups effectively learn to communicate in a foreign language or strengthen skills in spoken and written basic English as a Second Language.

GED Prep / Academic Enrichment

Classes in the Academic Enrichment Program are designed for students who want to improve their English language and/or mathematics skills in order to increase their career or educational opportunities. We aim to be the top provider of GED preparation in the Columbus area.

Volunteer Opportunities

Nonprofit organizations seeking student employees should contact Clayton Gibson about our Student Jobs program. This program links students with local nonprofit agencies to provide paid work experience for the students at no cost to the agency.
