Human Performance Center

The Human Performance Center (HPC) provides Columbus State students, employees, and the Columbus community with low-cost personal training.

The HPC is staffed by exercise physiologists, degreed and certified physical activity consultants, and exercise specialists who can provide clients with appropriate counsel on physical activity as well as proper program design and exercise prescription. In addition to physical activity counseling and exercise program design, the HPC provides a variety of wellness profiles which offer valuable information on individual wellness and fitness levels.

Exercising With Allergies - The American College of Sports Medicine offers some basic tips for exercising during allergy season. Here's just one example: Breathe through your nose as much as you can when you exercise because "The nasal passages act as natural filters and humidifiers." Avoiding high-intensity exercises such as sprints on high-allergy days would be a good idea!

The HPC is a facility that offers a comfortable, non-threatening environment that is designed to make your fitness and wellness experience positive. Whether you are currently physically inactive or highly physically active, the HPC has something to offer you. Call us at (614) 287-3843 or stop by Delaware Hall, room 083 and schedule your appointment today.

1. Use to treadmill: randomly change the incline and speed to add variety to your workout.

2. Join an indoor cycling class to burn calories in a fun and fast paced environment.
