I-71 - I-670 Construction and Ramp Closures

Expect several closures this week as part of the Columbus Crossroads reconstruction project on I-71 and I-670.

Starting today (May 21) and continuing all week through Friday evening, Jack Gibbs Blvd. will be closed for bridge work.

The following projects could all impact evening staff and students on Thursday, May 24:

At 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to Cleveland Ave. will close.

At 9 p.m., Northbound Cleveland Ave. will be closed. (Here's the detour that will be set up: northbound traffic will be re-routed to Mt. Vernon to 4th Street to Cleveland Ave.Southbound Cleveland Ave. will be reduced to one lane.

At 9 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be closed. (Here's the detour that will be set up: Traffic will be re-routed to SR 315 south to I-71 south.)

At 10 p.m., All lanes of I-71 south will be closed. (Here's the detour that will be set up: I-670 west to SR 315 south to I-71 south)

(The ramp from 11th Ave. to I-71 south will also close to reduce traffic volumes on I-71 south)

The closures are necessary to complete bridge work at Spring Street.

Everything will be open by 5 a.m. Friday, May 25.

(NEW)Also on Thursday, May 24, another Columbus Crossroads construction crew will be working.

At 8 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to Cleveland Ave. will close.

Beginning Friday, May 4, at 1 a.m., Spring Street at the bridge over I-71 will close for up to six months so that it can be rebuilt. Unlike nearby Long Street—which is open to traffic while it is being rebuilt—the Spring Street bridge is not wide enough to accommodate construction crews and traffic.

(While traffic won't be able to cross, the exit ramp from the highway will remain open.)
