The MH/AS/DD Program offers several certificates programs. These certificates are designed to meet specific training needs for individuals who already have a college degree, but desire additional training to be more equipped to work in specific areas within the human services profession. Acceptance in to any of the certificate programs requires an individual interview with the certificate coordinators.
Community Living Specialist Certificate
A 54-58-credit-hour program for students who have, in the past, struggled with their own severe mental illness. Students make use of their coping skills to work effectively with persons with severe mental illness. Students participate in two to three clinical practicum experiences on a mental health community treatment team.

Advanced Addiction Studies Certificate
A 59-credit-hour program for students with an associate, bachelor or master’s degree in a related field. Completion of this certificate meets the 270 hours of acceptable chemical dependency training for CD licensure. Students have three or four supervised clinical practicum experiences including one with clients who have co-occurring disorders.
The Advanced Addiction Studies Certificate meets the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board’s 270 chemical dependency specific education licensure requirement. The four quarters of clinical internship also may be used for a portion of the qualifying work experience requirement. This 51-credit-hour program is open to students with an associate, bachelor or master’s degree. The curriculum provides courses focused on knowledge and skills necessary to work in the mental health field. Students participate in four clinical practicum experiences in a variety of human service agencies.

This 52-credit-hour program is designed for students with an associate, bachelor or master’s degree. The curriculum offers courses focused on knowledge and skills necessary to work with clients with MR/DD issues. Students participate in four clinical practicums in a variety of human service agencies.
