Mathematics
The mission of the Department of Mathematics is to provide lifelong community access
to a dynamic curriculum that emphasizes mathematical concepts, communication and applications
through a commitment to sound pedagogy. In a mathematically dependent society the
department will strive to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of our students,
our faculty, our college and our community.
We offer Math classes for students in Career & Technical fields, as well as those who plan to start at Columbus State, then transfer to another college to complete their bachelor's degree. We strive to help all students, no matter what level of math knowledge they start with.

Trying to get into a class?
Fill out this form and you will receive a reply within 2 business days. Please note that you will need the Chair's signature if overriding a pre-requisite, and the instructor's signature if joining a full class or adding a class after instruction has begun. You will then take your signed Add/Drop form to Registration (the second floor of Madison Hall.)
Severe Weather Policy
In the event that the college must close, or alter its operating schedule, because
of severe weather or other emergencies, an announcement will be broadcast on local
television and radio stations, and on the college's Web site at www2.cscc.edu. Those subscribed to the Rave Mobile Safety program will receive text alerts when campus must close due to emergency or weather-related
closings.
Students who reside in areas which fall under a Level III or worse Weather Emergency
should not attempt to drive to Columbus State even if the college remains open. Consult
your course syllabus for information on the makeup of missed homework, labs, tests,
or quizzes, or contact your instructor. It is the student's responsibility to keep
up with reading and other assignments when a scheduled class does not meet, whatever
the reason.

NEW ! Semester MATH+STAT Courses
(as of Dec 2011)
This information may still change, and does not include any "bridge" or temporary
transition courses which might be offered. NQE (no quarter equivalent) indicates an
essentially new course; LE and LB refer to lecture and lab hours. In a 16-week semester
there will be 15 weeks of instruction, followed by a finals week. A typical 3-credit
class will meet either MWF for 50 minutes, or T/Th for 80 minutes. Some classes will
be STAT, but still administered through the Math department.
