Writers Conference: The Written World
The 9th annual Columbus State Writers Conference will be held May 5th. We learned
last week that poet Elizabeth Alexander, who was scheduled to be the keynote speaker,
has had to cancel her appearance due to a death in the family.
However, the Writers Conference is excited to announce today that we have an incredible new keynote speaker. Naomi Wolf, the author of the international bestseller The Beauty Myth, will provide the keynote address at 12:45 on May 5th. She will give a workshop presentation and do a book signing at the Conference.

This year’s theme will be The Written World, and, to that end, we are featuring presentations that focus on the creation of new worlds through poetry, prose, and other forms of writing. In the spirit of Columbus’ upcoming bicentennial celebrations, some presentations will be on the subject of recreating past worlds and imagining future ones. Sessions on other writing-related matters will be given as well.
Previous Attendees have said ...
"...stimulating sessions and great conversations with other participants."
"I enjoyed all the practical examples presenters gave."
"Excellent selection of sessions."
"Keep me on your email list!"
